A new way to deceive guarantors in Telegram
When carrying out channel purchase and sale transactions, admins use the services of guarantors who control the process so that neither the seller nor the buyer did not turn out to be deceived.
But from time to time scammers try to pull off fraud schemes using remote accounts. An example of the implementation of the technical side of deception:
1. The seller adds an additional administrator to the channel and tries to sell the channel on his behalf.
2. Next, the seller fakes the account of the creator of the channel under the deleted one.
3. The buyer, in order to protect himself, offers to conduct a transaction through a reputable guarantor.
4. The seller adds the specified guarantor to the blacklist in the channel creator’s account. This is done in order to display “was a long time ago” like a typical deleted account. An example is shown below on the screen.
5. Further, the seller claims that the creator’s account has been deleted and there is no access to it.
6. During the transaction, the guarantor sees the administrators as a typical remote channel creator account. Due to the peculiarities of the telegram, it is impossible to switch to the creator’s account from the administration panel.
7. Further, everything depends on the experience and attentiveness of the guarantor.
If he suspects something, then will double-check from an additional account that the seller does not know about. Or check it by changing the interface language.
But if the guarantor falls for the bait and confirms that everything is fine, then the seller of the channel, after receiving the payment, removes the buyer and the guarantor from the administrators through the account Creator “Deleted account”.
Next, correspondence is deleted (telegrams can do this) and the account of the scammer (seller) is, in principle, deleted from Telegram. As a result, the seller remains with the money and with the channel, and the deception is successfully implemented.
