Google was caught spying on users even with geodata disabled
This is the conclusion reached by the staff of the Associated Press in collaboration with scientists from Princeton University as a result of their study.
So they emphasize that despite the disabled geolocation function, Google continues to determine the user’s location using other methods.
For example, daily automatic weather updates help Google approximately determine the user’s location. And search queries in a search engine help determine its latitude and longitude location.
Researchers managed to recreate a map of the movements of one of the journalists, with the Location History function disabled on his Android smartphone.
Google responded to these allegations that they do not violate anything and provide users with the necessary options to turn off information collection and clear history.
