Hibernate technology in Yandex .Browser
Yandex.Browser impresses with its actions towards users: Integration with services, browser protection from viruses, and much more other things that you can read about in our article about Yandex.Browser, and now we have taken care of the problem with reloading the tab opened against the background.
The other day, company representatives announced that they taught their browser to “Save tabs to hard disk memory”, this new feature will be able to try out all users of the latest version of Yandex.Browser (Later 18.9.1). Now the development is in alpha testing and is not available to everyone.
How does it work in other browsers?
Each page is stored in the computer’s RAM, and the more tabs, the less free RAM remains. In the case when the memory is exhausted, the browser cannot open the tab, but this is handled very simply and radically – the oldest tab is removed from memory. Clicking on this tab causes all data to be reloaded.
How does it work in Yandex.Browser?
Hibernate technology saves the contents of a tab to hard disk before deleting it from memory. This means that clicking on this tab will not load the page from the web, but will take a copy of it from the hard disk.
What is the use ?
Using the technology, you can save all the changes made on the page, i.e. the entered data will be saved, unlike the cases when the page will be reloaded from the internet. This technology saves time on loading the page, as well as saves traffic.
