To automatically clear your Downloads folder of files that have been stored there for a very long time, you can use the System Tool “Memory Control”. To do this:
- Open “Settings” (by pressing “Win+I”), then go to “System” → “Device Memory” and activate the “Memory Control” function.
- Tap “Configure Memory Control and run it” to set the cleaning frequency. By default, Windows deletes files when the disk space is low.
- Set the periodicity of the cleanup run under “Memory Control”.
- In the Temporary files section, you can set how often you want to delete files from the Recycle Bin and Downloads folder. Files stored in these files for more than 1 day, 14, 30, or 60 days after downloading can be deleted.
