Grandson invented Telegram for grandma
Twitter user Manuel Lucio Dallo invented “Yayagram”. This is a device that makes the sending and receiving of voice and text messages via Telegram a physical process similar to using an old-fashioned telephone switchboard.
To send a message, the user physically plugs a cable into the connector next to the recipient’s name .
They then press and hold a button to record sound and speak into the built-in microphone. The message then appears on the recipient’s phone as a regular voice memo.
And when the device “Yayagram” receives a text message, it is printed using the built-in thermal printer. “Yaya” in Castilian means “grandmother”.
“Yayagram” powered by Raspberry Pi 4. The code is written in Python and uses several third-party software libraries to tie everything together. Of the components: a microphone, a cheap USB port, and a printer similar to those used in the cash registers of stores.
