On Windows 11, “Stickers” is an experimental non-productive feature that Microsoft is working on to let you have some fun on the desktop. As the name implies, the feature allows you to add a number of fun stickers to the existing background image.
If you want to test the feature, you can enable it (via Ghacks) in the latest preview of the Windows 11 22H2 available through the Dev and Beta Channels.
Stickers are available as a preview, but it’s unclear if the feature will ever roll out to all users.
This guide will teach you the steps to enable the immersive search experience hidden on Windows 11.
Warning: It’s very important to note that modifying the Windows Registry can cause serious problems if not used properly. It’s assumed you know what you’re doing and that you have created a full backup of your system before proceeding.
Enable desktop Stickers on Windows 11
To enable Stickers for the desktop on Windows 11, use these steps:
Open Start on Windows 11.
Search for regedit and click the top result to open the app.
Browse the following path:
Right-click the device key, select New and click on Key.
Name the key Stickers and press Enter.
Right-click the Stickers key, select New, and click on DWORD (32-bit) Value.
Name the key EnableStickers and press Enter.
Double-click the newly created DWORD and change its value from 0 to 1.
Click the OK button.
Restart the computer.
Once you complete the steps, when you right-click the desktop, you should see a new “Add or edit stickers” option. The option will bring up the Stickers picker UI, where you can select from a number of stickers to add to the desktop. You can add as many stickers as you want. You can resize them or delete them.
The option to add stickers will also be available through Settings > Personalization > Background when using the Picture option.
It’s important to note that when adding stickers, the Taskbar and application will be hidden from the desktop. Also, since this feature is still under development, it doesn’t work as expected. For example, while you can add stickers to the desktop, the stickers may no longer show on the desktop if you exit the view. In addition, if you try to access the feature again from the desktop context menu, the option may not work.
At any time, you can revert the changes using the same instructions, but on step No. 5, right-click the Stickers key and select the Delete option.
