How to enable new System Components page for Settings on Windows 11

Windows 11 build 25926 comes with a new “System Components” page in the Settings app, but if it’s not available on your installation, use these instructions to enable it. Microsoft is working on adding a new page in the Settings app that includes the default apps, extensions, and codecs that are considered essential components of the system for easier management.

The System Components page gives you a view of the default apps (such as Calculator, Camera, Feedback Hub, etc.), extensions, and codecs available on Windows 11. Similarly to the “Installed apps” settings, you can change the view, filter, and sort the components, and you can manage each component or remove it as necessary. (Some components are essential to the operation of the operating system and can’t be removed.)

Although the page offers virtually the same experience as the Installed apps page, users will have the system components on a specific page which is separated from other apps you may install from the Microsoft Store or other sources, making it easier to manage and remove them.

If you want to get hands-on with the new System Components page, you can use a third-party tool called “ViveTool,” created by Lucas on GitHub, to enable the experience (via @XenoPanther) on your computer.

This guide will teach you the steps to enable the new Settings homepage on Windows 11.

Enable new System Components page on Windows 11

To enable the new System Components page for the Settings app, use these steps:

  1. Open GitHub website.

  2. Download the ViveTool-vx.x.x.zip file to enable the new System Components page.

  3. Double-click the zip folder to open it with File Explorer.

  4. Click the Extract all button.

  5. Click the Extract button.

  6. Copy the path to the folder.

  7. Open Start.

  8. Search for Command Prompt, right-click the top result, and select the Run as administrator option.

  9. Type the following command to navigate to the ViveTool folder and press Enter:

    cd c:folderpathViveTool-v0.x.x

In the command, remember to change the path to the folder with your path.

  10. Type the following command to enable the System Components page for Settings and press Enter:

    vivetool /enable /id:44702824
  11. Restart the computer.

Once you complete the steps, the next time you open the Settings app, in the “System” section, you will find a new “System Components” page. However, since this experience is still a work in progress, you will find Windows 11 components as well as third-party apps.

If you change your mind, you can revert the changes with the same instructions, but on step 10, make sure to use the  vivetool /disable /id:44702824 command and then restart the computer.
