Many people don’t remember their Wi-Fi passwords. And when they need to connect a new device to the Internet, they start trying different options. If you have a Mac, you can easily find your password at the command line.
To do this:
- Launch the Terminal app (it’s handy to use Launchpad’s search).
- Insert the command “security find-generic-password -wa ” where SSID is the name of the network whose password you want to find out.
- Execute the command with the ENTER button.
- Enter the system user name and password to give the necessary permissions.
The screen will display the password for the access point you specified in the command. It’s worth noting that the method will work only if the Wi-Fi password is stored in your Mac’s Keychain.
