The guide that we have prepared for you is for both Android and iPhone. Learn how to get rid of virus on the phone. We will talk about both Android and iOS.

Mobile viruses are different than computer viruses. Malware come in many forms; they can range from spyware to mobile ransomware. Sometimes people download apps thinking they are safe, but they often turn out to be fake apps which contain malicious software.

How to Get Rid of a Virus on Your Android phone?

If you have noticed that your Android phone has suddenly started to work very slow, or you suspect that there might be a virus, then here a few things to do.

Google Play store has many reliable antivirus apps. You can download one and begin free scanning. After the scanning is done, the app will notify you if there is any threat in real-time.

  • Open the Google Play store on your Android smartphone and download antivirus for android. Pick an antivirus based on reviews and ratings.
  • Open the application on the phone and click on the scan option.
  • Wait for a few minutes until the scanning is complete. The app will automatically scan all the apps, as well as, files for malicious software and detect them if any.
  • If the app locates a threat, click on the resolve option.
  • Uninstall the malicious software.

It is better not to download any third-party application to keep your Android phone protected. Along with these steps, you can also go to the security setting on your phone and click on “Device Administration”. Check if the malicious app still has any access to your phone. Choose “Deactivate” to deactivate it and once done, disable it.

How to Get Rid of a Virus on Your iPhone?

Unlike Android devices, the virus removal process in an iPhone is quite straightforward. It is difficult for the malware or virus to break into an iOS. For the IOS devices to hack, hackers develop software developer kits which are then used to create apps. This is the reason why you should never jailbreak your device and download any third-party apps. Here’s what you can do:

Step 1: Clear every data and history

Malware, as we know, come in different types. If you see an error message frequently popping out in the Safari browser, then the best way to control is by clicking on settings. Select the Safari tab, click on clear history, as well as website data. This should solve the problem.

Step 2: Restart your phone

Most of the virus is usually temporary, and they stop functioning once you restart your phone. You already know how to power off your phone and restart it. Click on the power button, tap on the slide to power off option, and turn it off. Wait for a few seconds and reset it.

Step 3: Restoring earlier backup

In case, trying the first two steps don’t solve the issue, then it would be better to work restoring the iPhone to the earlier backup. You might have seen back up your phone reminders, which you thought were genuine; however, they were not. So, the best thing to do in this case would be to try earlier backups, which was malware-free.

Step 4: Restoring the device

This is the final step for an iPhone user if none of the steps works for you. Restoring the device should remove all the malware from your device. If your phone still starts to lag, shows weird pop up messages on your Safari browser, then go to settings, click on general, and press reset. Then click on erase all content, as well as, settings. This way, you will remove everything that is on the phone and will now have a fresh new phone.

Understandably, you can dispose of your smartphone because it is infected or has malware; however, you can keep it protected by using a reliable antivirus though. Make sure that you download the antivirus from a secured source; otherwise, you might end up downloading malware.
