Starting February 1st, 2013, Microsoft put an end to its promotional offer to get Windows 8 Pro upgrade for $39.99. Now anyone who wants to upgrade to the Pro version has to pay $199.99 or $119.99 for the core version of the operating system. However, if you are a student, you can purchase the download Windows 8 Pro for $69.99 from the Microsoft Store.
To qualify for the Windows 8 Pro upgrade Student Offer, you need to visit this Microsoft site, and you must be an eligible student. This means that have to be current student, faculty or staff member at an eligible accredited educational institution located in the US and you also will need to proof your enrollment upon request.
Important: Microsoft will only allow students to purchase up to 5 copies of Windows 8 during a 12-month period through this program. Check the full terms and conditions for more information before buying.
You’ll also need to verify your eligibility using the student status verification process at check out. Finally, you will need create a Microsoft account, if you don’t already have one.
How it was previously announced, Microsoft will also expand the student offer to 49 additional countries, but the new promotion discount starts first in United States follow by other countries in February 21st, March 7th and March 19th.
