On Windows 11, it’s possible to install the Google Bard AI chatbot as an app, and this guide will teach you how. Similar to Bing Chat, Bard is a conversational chatbot that uses natural language to provide more human conversational answers to complex questions.

Although the company is working to integrate the chatbot directly into its Chrome browser, the technology doesn’t have a dedicated desktop application. However, you can always install the Bard AI experience as a Progressive Web App (PWA) on Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome.

Progressive web app refers to the technology that allows you to install a website as a native app on your computer. Some of the benefits of this approach include the ability to work offline, notifications, automatic updates, easy installation and uninstallation, and various other features. However, it is up to the developer to implement these functionalities.

In this guide, you will learn how to install (and uninstall) the Bard app as a PWA on Windows 11.

  • Install Google Bard on Windows 11 from Chrome
  • Install Google Bard on Windows 11 from Edge

Install Google Bard on Windows 11 from Chrome

To install Google Bard as a web app with Chrome, use these steps:

  1. Open Google Chrome.

  2. Open Bard (web).

  3. Click the Customize and Control (three-dotted) button in the top-right corner.

  4. Select the More tools menu and choose the Create shortcut option.

  5. Click the Create button.

Once you complete the steps, Google Chrome will install the progressive web app (PWA) version of Bard AI on Windows 11. Also, similar to Edge, the app will now be available from the Start menu.

Uninstall Google Bard from Google Chrome

To uninstall Google Bard from Chrome, use these steps:

  1. Open Google Chrome.

  2. Open this settings page:

    chrome://apps
  3. Right-click the Google Bard and select the “Remove from Chrome” option.

You can also uninstall the Google Bard from Settings> Apps> Apps & features, selecting the app and clicking the “Uninstall” button. Or, from the Start menu, right-click the app, and select the “Uninstall” button.

Install Google Bard on Windows 11 from Edge

To install Google Bard on Windows 11, use these steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.

  2. Open Bard website.

  3. Click the Settings and more (three-dotted) button in the top-right corner.

  4. Select the Apps submenu.

  5. Click the “Install this site as an app” option.

  6. Click the Install button.

Once you complete the steps, the progressive web app (PWA) version of Bard AI will install and will be available from the Start menu.

Uninstall Google Bard from Microsoft Edge

To remove Google Bard from Windows 11, use these steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.

  2. Click the Settings and more (three-dotted) button in the top-right corner.

  3. Select the Apps submenu and choose the View apps option.

  4. Click the More settings (three-dotted) button in the top-right corner and select the “Manage apps” option.

  5. Under the “Installed apps” section, click the Details button for the app.

  6. Click the Uninstall button.

  7. (Optional) Check the “Also clear data from Microsoft Edge” option.

  8. Click the Remove button.

You can also uninstall the Bing app from Settings> Apps> Install apps, selecting the app and clicking the “Uninstall” button. Alternatively, from the Start menu, right-click the app, and select the “Uninstall” button.
