This week on 10Alert: Apple takes the stage at the Town Hall Theater in Cupertino to unveil the new 4-inch iPhone SE, a new 9.7-inch iPad Pro, and new bands for the Apple Watch. The computer giant also announced iOS 9.3, a new Apple TV update, and Apple showed off Liam, a new disassemble robot.

Recently, Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 build 14291 to the Fast ring of updates and we went hands-on with preview on a video highlighting the new Microsoft Extensions, the redesigned Maps app, the new Feedback Hub app, and the new improvements on the Settings app.

Peter Skillman, General Manager of Core UX at Microsoft, confirmed that the company is working on a “total update” for File Explorer and hints it might also include tabs — one the most requested features on File Explorer for years.

Since the beginning Skype included the ability to send messages and make voice and video calls on a single application. Then on Windows 10, the app got broken down into three separate apps, something that works on phone, but it doesn’t offer the experience on larger screens. As a result, Microsoft is now announcing that is building a new Skype Universal app for Windows 10 that once again unifies the core functionalities on a single app, and it’ll soon release to Insiders.

Here are a few screenshots of the Skype Universal Windows Platform App Preview for Windows 10 from a leaked version giving us a glimpse on what to expect.

While there are only a few extensions available for Microsoft Edge, developers are already porting some of their own. This week I created a list of the official and unofficial extensions you can try right now.

Microsoft’s Channel9 website hints that Live Tiles will soon be updated on Windows 10. According to the available information, the software giant plans to make Live Tiles more interactive and capable. Furthermore, future updates of the operating system will also include improved toast notifications.

Windows 10 build 14295 for PC and Mobile rolls to Insiders through the Fast ring of updates, but the new Redstone preview doesn’t include any new features. Instead, the company is delivering a number of bug fixes and improvements.

The April lineup of free games with Gold for Xbox One and Xbox 360 get announced. For the month of April, Microsoft will be making available four free games, which combined will save users over $100.

This week the March system update for Xbox One rolls out to everyone. The new update brings the ability for users to purchase Xbox 360 games directly from the Xbox One dashboard, there are new improvements on party chat, video playback, and the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller gets a new firmware update.
