Quality 720p on YouTube is no longer HD
According to quality standards , videos are divided into SD, HD, Full HD, 2K, 4K. HD video also corresponds to 720p. These are full resolution videos of 1280 x 720 pixels.
But apparently the quality is no longer considered HD for the video portal. YouTube removed the label “HD” that was next to 720p quality. At the moment, it is not known whether this is temporary or permanent.
It is assumed that the company allegedly increases the data transfer speed and at an average speed, users will download videos in 720p instead of 480p.
YouTube does not comment on the situation. Perhaps this is due to the coronavirus epidemic.
