Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 is nothing short of success, after a few tries the company has figured out the right recipe to bridge between a tablet and a laptop. In the market today, there is no other tablet in its category that can offer the same level of productivity.
On October 6th, during its Windows 10 Devices event in New York City, the company unveiled the fourth-generation of its tablet, and Surface Pro 4 is an amazing device headed in the right direction. I got the chance to attend the event and get a closer look of the device, and like its predecessor, Surface Pro 4 is truly the tablet that can replace your laptop. In the gallery above, you will get a first look of the tablet, plus you can see how the device looks from the inside, including the new cooling system, facial recognition camera, display, and much more.
The new tablet features a slightly larger 12.3-inch PixelSense display with 60 percent more pixels, Intel’s sixth-generation Skylake processors, improved hybrid cooling system, more memory, and more storage. All packed on an 8.4mm thick body that measures the same height and width of the Surface Pro 3.
Alongside the Surface Pro 4, the company also unveiled the redesigned Type Cover. The new cover includes a new keyboard design with more space between keys and a larger trackpad made out of glass. There are two models, the traditional cover and the cover with fingerprint scanner, which will allow support for Windows Hello for both Surface Pro 4 and Surface Pro 3. However, it’s worth pointing out that the Surface Pro 4 also includes Windows Hello with a new camera built into the device.
Microsoft claims up to 9 hours of battery life, something that hasn’t changed since the last release. While the design of the new Surface Pro 4 hasn’t changed much since Surface Pro 3, there are significant improvements on the screen and under the hood that justify the upgrade. Though, to be fair, if you already own a Surface Pro 3, you probably don’t need the upgrade, but if you’re thinking on getting your first Surface, this is the one to get.
Surface Pro 4 goes on sale on October 26th, it starts at $899 and it can go up to $2,699 for the Core i7 processor with 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage, and you can buy it from the Microsoft Store and Amazon.
