Remember, we told about the aircraft tracking site? Today we will talk about a similar service for watercraft – “Marine Traffic” .
For tracking, the service uses AIS ( automatic identification system). Each ship uses radio waves from the transmitter to report its location on the air.
The ship includes the following information: name, identifier, dimensions, coordinates, heading, speed, MMSI number, call sign, steering angle and etc.
On the site you can find a ship by name, track its movement, view photos, etc. Map display layers and filters for ships are also available.
There is support for Russian, Ukrainian and other popular languages.
