On Android and iPhone, you cannot access the new Bing Chat AI with Google Chrome, Safari, or another non-Microsoft browser. Instead, you must use one of the three available methods, including the Bing app, Microsoft Edge (mobile), or the SwiftKey keyboard app.

Whatever app you choose, the experience will be similar to the one on the web through a desktop computer. The difference will be the interface and the additional features. For instance, Microsoft Bing on mobile is a more informational application with access to the chatbot and other Bing services, including the latest news headlines.

The Microsoft Edge app is the same browser for the desktop but adapted for Android and iPhone devices with the difference that you can access the Bing Chat AI in the same way as on the desktop.

The SwiftKey app is perhaps the best way to use Bing Chat because it gives you the quickest access to the chatbot from the keyboard without switching applications, and you get features like “Tone” that allows you to rewrite content.

This guide will teach you the steps to access the new Bing on your mobile phone, whether it’s an iPhone or Android. You can use these instructions to get early access to the new Bing Chat AI.

  • Bing Chat AI with Bing mobile app
  • Bing Chat AI with Edge mobile app
  • Bing Chat AI with SwiftKey mobile app

Bing Chat AI with Bing mobile app

If you don’t already have the Bing app, you can download it from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store as any other app.

To use Chat with the Bing mobile app, use these steps:

  1. Open Bing app.

  2. Sign in with your Microsoft account (if applicable).

  3. Click the Bing Chat button.

  4. Click the keyboard button at the bottom-right if you don’t want to use voice.

  5. Choose the conversational style, including “Creative,” “Balanced,” or “Precise.”

Quick tip: Usually, you would want to stay with the “Balanced” option, but if you want a more accurate answer, you could choose the “Precise” option or the “Creative” option for a more original response.

  6. Compose a question using the prompt at the bottom of the page.

  7. Click the Submit button.

  8. Compose additional questions (as necessary).

  9. Click the Broom icon on the bottom-left to clear the chat and start over.

Once you complete the steps, you can continue interacting with the AI chatbot to get answers for different topics. Although it’s not required to clear the chat, it’s recommended to use the “Broom” option when changing topics to minimize the chances of the chatbot getting confused.

Bing Chat AI with Edge mobile app

If you don’t have a particular web browser preference, you can download and install the Microsoft Edge app on Android or iPhone from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

To use the Bing Chat AI through the Microsoft Edge mobile browser, use these steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.

  2. Compose your question in the search box and then click on Chat.

  3. Click the keyboard button at the bottom-right if you don’t want to use voice.

  4. (Optional) Choose the conversational style, including “Creative,” “Balanced,” or “Precise.”

  5. Compose a question using the prompt at the bottom of the page.

  6. Click the Submit button.

  7. Compose additional questions (as necessary).

  8. Click the Broom icon on the bottom-left to clear the chat and start over.

After you complete the steps, you can switch to the regular search as you would with any mobile browser.

Bing Chat AI with SwiftKey mobile app

If you don’t have the SwitfKey app on your phone, you can download it from the Google Play Store for Android and the Apple App Store for iOS devices. You will also need to sign in with the Microsoft account that has access to the Bing Chat access. The on-screen directions will guide you through setting the Swiftkey keyboard as your new default.

To use Bing Chat on Switfkey for Android or iPhone, use these steps:

  1. Open any mobile app.

  2. Click on the text field to bring up the SwiftKey keyboard.

  3. Click the Bing button on the left side.

  4. Click the Search option.

  5. Compose a search query and click on the magnifier button to search.

This is basically a regular Bing search with traditional search results and the option to search images at the bottom of the page.

  6. Click the Tone option.

  7. Compose a text fragment you want the AI to rewrite for you and press Enter.

As you submit the text, the AI chatbot will rewrite the content with different tone variants, including “Professional,” “Casual,” “Polite,” or “Social post.” If you want to choose one of the versions, click the “Accept” button to insert it directly into the text field, or click the “Copy” option to copy the content to the clipboard.

  8. Click the Chat option.

  9. (Optional) Choose the conversation style, including “Creative,” “Balanced,” or “Precise.”.

  10. Compose a prompt using natural language to ask the chatbot to get a response, similarly to using the web experience. If you click the “microphone” icon, you can use voice to ask the question instead of typing.

  11. Click the Close button from the top-left corner to exit the chatbot.

Once you complete the steps, you can continue interacting with the app without switching experiences.

While you can access the new Bing Chat from different applications, the SwiftKey keyboard makes it easier to find answers without switching apps, and the addition of the “Tone” feature is an excellent tool to rewrite text to fit a desired tone when you are stuck on an email or social post.
