Minimalist Dock: leave active applications only
Dock is a universal macOS panel for working with frequently used applications and open files. Fans of the visual order can make it as minimalistic as possible by removing the icons of programs that are not currently open from it.
To enable displaying only active applications:
one. Open the application “Terminal” (you can find it in Spotlight search).
2. Paste the command “defaults write com.apple.dock static-only -bool true; killall Dock”.
3. Confirm your intentions by pressing ENTER.
Only applications that are currently active will be shown in the Dock. To undo the changes and return the panel to its original state, use the command “defaults delete com.apple.dock; killall Dock".
