Google Photos is no longer free
From June 1, 2021 service “Google Photos” will no longer be free. After a week, users will not be able to upload their photos and videos unlimitedly in “High Quality”.
There will be a 15 GB limit per user to upload media in “High Quality”. Space for photos and videos will be allocated with “Google Drive”.
What happens if you exceed the limit? If you take up more space than your allotment, the files will be deleted from your Google Drive.
Before deletion:
1. You will receive a warning message in the mail.
2. You will be prompted to purchase additional memory.
3. You will be able to download your data from “Google Drive”.
Your files will be deleted if you do not free up space or buy additional space within two years.
Inactive account data will also be deleted. Let’s say you haven’t logged into your account “Photo” for two years, but you still use “Disk” and “Gmail” .
In this case, content will only be removed from “Google Photos”. Your files will be deleted within two years. Before deleting, you will receive an email.
Alternatively, you can go to “Yandex.Disk”, to which you can upload unlimited photos and videos in original quality.
But unlike “Google Photos”, “Yandex.Disk” does not have such functions as: face recognition, photo grouping by subject, object recognition, etc.
If you have a device “Google Pixel” or “Google Pixel XL” , you will be able to upload photos and videos unlimitedly to “Google Photos” in “High Quality”.
