Nothing can compare with the convenience and portability of a laptop. However, if you want to use an external monitor for work purposes, you may encounter unexpected difficulties.
The problem is that since you will be using an external monitor, you will most likely want to close the lid of your laptop, and by default Windows puts the laptop into sleep mode if you close the lid.
To change the behavior of the laptop when closing the lid:
- Open the “Control Panel”.
- Go to the “Power Supply” section.
- In the menu on the left, select “Action when closing the lid”.
- In the “When closing the lid” section, select the actions that will be performed when the laptop is powered from the mains and from the battery. The “No action required” option will allow you to continue using the external monitor when closing the laptop.
- Save the changes.
