How to create a custom file size?
Whether you are a developer or a regular PC user, everyone may have a situation where you need to check the speed of uploading files to the server or the speed of reading / writing files to disk.
The most convenient way for this task is to create your own file with a predetermined desired size, and not try, for example, to download unknown things from the Internet. In Windows, using the built-in utility fsutil you can set the required number of bytes to a new file and test systems with it.
To do this, open a command prompt by pressing “Win + R” and typing “cmd”. Then run the command “fsutil file createnew PathToFile Size”. For example, let’s create a file of one million bytes (1MB) in the Files folder on drive D. The command will look like “fsutil file createnew D: /Files/file.txt 1000000”.
