If you’ve forgotten your neighbor’s Wi-Fi password, but you really need to connect, there’s a great Windows console tip. The algorithm is as follows:
- Press the “Win+R” combination and type “cmd” to open the command prompt.
- Enter the command “netsh wlan show profiles”. You will see a list of all known Wi-Fi networks on the screen. Remember the name of the network you want.
- Then type “netsh wlan show profile name= key=clear”. The command will display all known information about that network. The “key content” field will show the last password with which you connected to that network.
The WlanSvc service in the Windows operating system manages all wireless connections (via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth). That is, the service is responsible for searching, connecting, disconnecting, and other operations that are required for wireless connections to work on your computer.
