How to change drive letter in Windows 10?
As a rule, disks are always named following a certain logic: the letters A and B are called floppy disk drives ; C, D, E , … are the logical disks of the hard drive, where C is used for the system partition, and the last letter is the name of the CD-ROM drive (if any).
If you are not satisfied with the letter assigned to the drive, you can change it by replacing it with any free letter. To do this:
1. Press the keys “Win + R” and enter “cmd” → a terminal will open.
2. Enter the command “diskpart” and press Enter .
3. Enter the command “list volume” and press Enter.
four. Find the desired disk and run the command “select volume X” (“ X » replace with the letter of the desired drive).
5. Execute the command “assign letter=Y” (“Y” replace with new letter).
Warning! If you change the drive letter where Windows or applications are installed, problems may occur when starting and searching for this disk. For this reason, it is not recommended to change the drive letter on which Windows or applications are installed.
