How to Set Password Expiration in Windows 10 for Local Account
We previously wrote about how to set a password expiration date in Windows 10. That method is associated with a Microsoft account and a new password is only requested every 72 days.
On local account, you can also limit the password expiration date and set your own update interval:
1. Press the keyboard shortcut “Win + R” .
2. Enter “netplwiz” and press “OK”.
3. Go to “Advanced” -> “Advanced”.
four. Click on the folder “Users”.
5. Right-click on the desired account.
6. Click on “Properties”.
7. Turn off the item
“Password does not expire”.
8. Press “OK”.
9. Press the key combination “Win + R” .
10. Enter “gpedit.msc” and click “OK”.
11. Open “Computer Configuration” -> “Windows Configuration” -> “Security Settings” -> “Account Policy” ->
“Password Policy”.
12. Double click on “Maximum password age”.
13. Change the value from 42 to your preference.
14. Click “Apply”, then “OK”.
