For those happy families who were enjoying Xbox Live Family Gold pack, the days of paying only $99 per year for an Xbox subscription are counted. Thatās right, Microsoft has reportedly discontinued its family gold pack to get all the Xbox benefits (online gaming and the rights to use the Xbox apps).
CurrentĀ members will be able to take advantage of theĀ serviceĀ until it expires, but for new families trying to get aĀ subscriptionĀ will have to opt to get a $59.99 subscription for each family member, which it could cost anything from $180 or $240 for a base family of 3 or 4 people (Of course, you can always shop around andĀ maybeĀ find a better deal).
Still a puzzled to why the software giant decided to put and end on this feature. However user Mister Ohnaka (Official Support), has confirmed that the family pack is not longer an option.
Considering that weāre only talking about Microsoft ditching the family subscription, it makes you think if Microsoft is planning other changes as well, such as changing the subscription prices for the next Xbox console, or adding or removing features from the current service ā Personal note: It would be nice, if the company allowed users to use Netflix and other apps without a subscription, considering youāre already paying for those services.
