Browsers are one of the few programs that can support, in addition to hotkeys, operational control of individual commands using so-called mouse gestures. Let’s look at some of the functions of a computer mouse when working with a browser.
- Clicking the mouse wheel on the link you can not only open it immediately in a new tab, but also close it. And you can click on the entire area of the tab header, not just on the cross.
- Pressed CTRL with scrolling wheel changes scale of the page.
- Holding the mouse wheel allows you to quickly move around the page. This is useful when the page or file is very long. This way you get to the paragraph or picture you are looking for several times faster.
- You can select any word by double-clicking it. If you want to select a whole paragraph or sentence, press the left mouse button 3 times. If you double-click and then start dragging the word, the cursor will stop after one word instead of one letter.
- When it’s hard to select an entire paragraph of text with the mouse, place the cursor at the beginning of the text you want to select, then scroll down to the end. Hold down the Shift key and left-click where you want the selection to end.
