In Virtual Box 7 from Oracle there was support for Apple Silicon processors. Mac users based on M1 and M2 chips can now create and run virtual machines.
Until recently, users of Mac computers and laptops based on Apple’s proprietary processors could not run virtual machines using software from Oracle. In Virtual Box 7, the developers added support for M1 and M2 processors.
It is noted that while Virtual Box on Apple Silicon chips is working in experimental mode. Because of this, users may experience errors, poor performance, and unusual behavior.
In addition, Virtual Box 7 includes support for virtual machine encryption, DirectX 11 on Windows, and transition to new API on macOS. The updated Virtual Box can already be downloaded on the project website. Users of computers based on Apple Silicon processors should select Developer preview for macOS.
