RCMP quietly testing AI-drafted reports from body camera audio

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is piloting an AI tool called Draft One to generate police reports from body camera audio. The AI system aims to reduce report-writing time but introduces potential risks to data integrity, bias, and privacy. The pilot affects RCMP officers and Canadian citizens whose data is processed by the system.

‘The pilot will evaluate whether Draft One can improve and reduce the amount of time officers spend writing reports, freeing up more time to do active policing,’ a spokesperson said
