Hacker who stole 10 million euro in IOTA cryptocurrency arrested
In August 2017, a hacker with the nickname Norbertvdberg created a website iotaseed.io. The main purpose of the site was to generate random 81 character passphrases for IOTA wallet users.
But this is the official purpose. To confirm it, the developer even published the source code in one GitHub repository.
But in the public version of the site, he provided for himself a mechanism for saving the generated user passwords.
After collecting a large database of passphrases, on January 19, 2018, the hacker began to enter users’ wallets and withdraw their cryptocurrency.
After that, he closed the site and Deleted my GitHub profile. But as you understood from the title, this did not help him much, and the other day he was arrested.
