Permanently deleting files from HDD on Windows
Maybe you know that at the moment when the user deletes a file, Windows does not erase the contents of the sectors on disk. The computer makes this file invisible and allows the space it occupied to be overwritten for other data in the future.
It may take a long time before this space is taken up by new files. Accordingly, until this place in memory is overwritten, you can restore this “deleted” file using special utilities.
BleachBit is a program for Windows and Linux that will help you immediately overwrite the free space on your hard drive, thereby removing traces of files previously stored there. The tool is also able to free up disk space, upload files to the cloud, clear browser cache, cookies and logs.
To permanently delete files, run the installed program. The interface is extremely clear: select files to delete from the menu and start cleaning. You can read more about the utility’s capabilities in the official documentation.
Please note that this program Only works with traditional HDD drives and will not work with SSDs. You can download the program from the official site . The source code of the project is available on GitHub.
