Sending encrypted messages to Gmail
Not all e-mail services encrypt messages during transmission. Corresponding through them is like sending each other unenveloped postcards that can be read by anyone.
By default, Gmail does not encrypt outgoing emails, which makes them vulnerable. To protect your personal information, you can use the Flowcrypt extension, which provides end-to-end encryption to protect messages and attachments in Google Mail.
After installing the extension in Gmail, next to the button “Write” a new button will appear “Secure Compose”. A message sent in this way can only be read by a recipient with the extension installed, who has the same password as you.
A recipient without an extension will be able to read your message only if if you create a public key and tell your recipient about it. You can enter this password and read the message by clicking on the link in the received letter.
The extension is available for different platforms: Chrome, Firefox and Android. The iOS app is under testing and is currently unavailable. The source code of the project is available on GitHub.
