Automate daily tasks on Android
Google Assistant is a voice assistant that is always there. This is an assistant who is able to suggest an answer to a question of interest or find information about an important problem in time, you just have to say “OK, Google” .
And if the standard assistant without additional manipulations can perform only one action at a time, its additional service “Quick Commands” is designed to control applications by voice. This is an analogue of the “Commands” application for iOS, which we wrote about above .
To find shortcuts or customize your own, call the Google Assistant:
1. Open the full screen version with a swipe up and click on the compass icon.
2. In the window that opens, click on the avatar of your account and go to “Settings” .
3. In “Settings” select from the list and open “Shortcuts” .
The service will recommend basic commands to you based on your behavior in applications. These are simple commands like “Post a tweet”, “Open my YouTube subscriptions” , “Send a photo to WhatsApp” . However, if these are not enough for you, you can write your own scripts.
Google Assistant will also offer you to create programs – these are sets of actions that will be performed by one command. To get to them, scroll through the page with quick commands to the very end and at the bottom you will see “All Programs” .
There are not many actions here and they are all limited to the standard functions of the phone (management of reminders and notifications, setting up smart home devices, volume control and media content).
But even from such a set, you can assemble useful automation: on the command “Good morning” set up the display of the weather, the list of tasks for the day, turn on the kettle and music and activate the robot cleaner 30 minutes after you leave home.
