Germany allocates a million euros for the development of GNOME.💰
GNOME Foundation received a million euros from the Sovereign Foundation, established in Germany with funds provided German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.
GNOME Foundation received a million euros from the Sovereign Foundation, established in Germany with funds provided German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.
☝🏻The money received is planned to be used to modernize the GNOME platform, improvement of tools, expansion of facilities for people with disabilities and implementation of functions, of public interest.
In particular, it is planned to develop a prototype of a new stack for people with disabilities, provide support for selective encryption of user home directories, upgrade password and key storage, improve the quality of equipment support and much more.
☝🏻Germany has also provided funding for OpenSSH, WireGuard, Python, RubyGems, curl, OpenBGPd, OpenMLS, OpenPGP.js/GopenPGP, Pendulum, Sequoia PGP and Yocto.
The amount of support for these projects is not specified. The total budget for 2023 is 11.5 million euros.🇩🇪
